TheDepartment ofBusiness Administration has a long history dating back to early 1950s when it was called the Department of Factory Management, Zhongyuan University. In late 1950s, the Department was renamed to Department of Industrial Economics. In 2000, the School of Business Administration was founded, and the Department was renamed into the Department of Business Administration. Therefore, the Department has a history spanning over 60 years. Affiliated entities of the Department include three teaching and research offices (Corprate Management, Technology Economics and Management, and Industrial Economics) and three research institutes (Corporate Management, Modern Industrial Economics, and Technology Economics and Management). The Department has three provincial key disciplines (Corporate Management, Industrial Economics, and Technology Economics and Management), one provincial-brand major (Business Administration), one provincial excellent course (General Science of Management), and three university-level excellent courses (Management, Strategic Management, and Asset Appraisal). The Department has one undergraduate major (Business Administration); four master majors (Corporate Management, Technology Economics and Management, Industrial Economics and Asset Appraisal); and three doctor’s degree awarding stations (Corporate Management, Industrial Economics, and Technology Economics and Management). Number of in-campus undergraduate students is nearly 500; number of master students is over 200; while number of doctorate students is over 30. Multi-layered and wide-ranging education programs have provided the students with an ideal learning and research platform.


The Department has a strong and well-structured teaching and research team composed of 26 teachers, among them five are professors, 15 are associate professors, and four are doctorate supervisors. This competent faculty team has been making fruitful teaching and research results. Since 2000, the teachers of the Department have undertaken 15 projects sponsored by the National Social Science Foundation of China or the National Natural Science Foundation of China, over 30 provincial or ministry-level projects and over 60 horizontal research projects. The papers published on top domestic journals amount to over 80. The Department of Business Administration encompasses two disciplines namely management and economics, with more importance attached on management. Programs and majors of the Department are all subordinate to Business Administration as a first-level discipline. Since management is a practice-and-application-oriented discipline, the combination of theories with practice is encouraged in teaching and research activities. By partnering with relevantenterprises and organizations, the Department has established 30 off-campus internship bases concerning Corporate Management, Operations Management and Asset Appraisal. Such productive partnerships have promoted sustainable development of various majors and the cultivation of composite talents that meet social needs.
